We Are Thankful for Volunteers
There are so many ways to get involved in our church by volunteering. It is such a good way to get to know others in our church family. Our church survives because of the dedication of all our volunteers.
In addition to on-going volunteer opportunities, such as being on a board, there are also many opportunities for short-term volunteer jobs. Examples of these are: tent set-ups/take-downs in our driveway, moving tables to get ready for the fair, rummage sale, or pot luck dinners, helping with the church fair, helping with the rummage sale, spring and fall cleanup involving painting, raking and many miscellaneous jobs, kitchen clean up crew (meets a few times a year to give the kitchen a good cleaning), helping with major mailings, making scenery for church musicals, setting up for church musicals, helping to take down Christmas pageant scenery after church, folding newsletters, helping in the nursery and toddler rooms, helping in the kitchen for pot lucks and other events, signing up to be an usher, signing up to read the Scriptures during the church service, serving coffee at Coffee Hour after church, helping with collations...even just baking something for this or making and donating sandwiches, joining in once a year the Monday before the Fall Fair to make apple pies, and driving people to and from Carleton Willard on Sunday morning. These are just a few of the many ways you can volunteer to help.
If you are interested in any of the above, in serving on any of the Boards, or in anything not listed yet, do contact the church office (275-7951) or speak to any of our staff. They love to have volunteers call!! We will need lots of volunteers for our Fall Festival...and for Bedford Day too!
Volunteers Needed to Help Stewardship Board
The Stewardship Board is looking for volunteers who are willing to help with small tasks to be done in both the church and the manse from time to time. Examples are spackling and patching walls, repairing door mechanisms, fixing doors that no longer fit in the door frames properly. Also, they are looking for volunteers who may be interested in getting together with several others to clean out some areas in the church, such as part of the dirt cellar. If you are interested in helping, please call Jim Maxon.
Internet and Gardening Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in setting up an on-line yahoo discussion group or something similar? A couple of people have suggested we have an online method of having discussions at First Church and a Yahoo Discussion Group or something similar was suggested. If you are interested in volunteering to set something up, maintain it, and monitor it so inappropriate information could be removed, please contact the church office at 781-275-7951. Gardening Volunteers Needed for Spring Do you or your friends have some time to spend helping to weed and clean up the area behind the church, and/or the outside area near the entrance to the staff office? Even if you cannot volunteer on a regular basis but would just like to help for a few hours one time, that would be great. Many thanks to Susan Wingfield, Jim Foltz, Sam Foltz, and LuAnn Michaud for cleaning up behind the church, for the weeding and raking, cleaning up the labyrynth, and to Susan for donating and planting many perennials. Please call the church office if you can help with this or if you have questions (781-275-7951).
