Poverty & Economic Justice

Vote Out Poverty – Sponsored by the Christian magazine Sojourners, it is the culmination of ten years of work to unite and mobilize the church to put poverty at the top of the nation’s political agenda. It’s goals are to cut poverty in America in half over the next 10 years, and to end extreme global poverty by fulfilling the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals.

As part of our commitment to social justice, we purchase our coffee for coffee hour from
Equal Exchange, whose founders envisioned a food system that empowers farmers and consumers, supports small farmer co-ops, and uses sustainable farming methods. They started with fairly traded coffee from Nicaragua and today partner with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic coffees, teas, chocolates and snacks from farmers all over the world, including here in the United States.
